What is difference between 9 and 9.6 volt rechargeable battery's? Would the 9.6 be be better for a Nautilus as more power? I just bought some 9 volts on line that were inexpensive. Then I see the 9.6 volt battery wonder if I should have bought them ? The ones I got are also 280 mah what ever that is? And they are NIMH. Thanks.

Discrimination on 2BA (5 replies)

I have recently decided to try and use my old 2ba. I noticed that no matter how high I turned up the distribution, I would still get an a beep out of the discrimination side. It is not as noticeable as when it is turned down where it beeps better on the target, but it will never just sound off with only the all metal tone. It is more like a chirp. Is that normal?

I had Wayne Lee make new coil and rebalance old coils for my DMC2B. I like to new coil. I think name it my "Black OPS" Coil , it seem to be super stable and little more depth vs my older coils. I had my new coil and older coil back only 10 days V.A. Wayne also say going to making new DMC2B also. For all the Loyal Nautilus / Hard Core Relic Hunter this great news. Chuck

2ba finds a nice little buckle. (2 replies)

I went out early this morning with my 2ba to the long lost foundation. I found a nice colonial buckle. I included a picture of a colonial axe head I found last week, one of two about 6 feet apart, and a view of the footprint of the foundation. The foundation is barely noticeable, very shallow and about 15x15. The Nautilus is on one side of the foundation and my pack is on the back side. Just over the log is where they logged and it is impossible to find the other two foundations until next spring due to vegetation.
Thanks for looking, Mike

Today a Flying Eagle and Huge Suspender Clasp (2 replies)

I was up and out early with the 11-Ba for two hours at a couple of cellar holes I have not been to for years. My friend who owns the land did not know the history of the holes (2) or their date; they do not show up on the 1866 maps. They are about a mile in the woods but accessible with a four wheel drive vehicle. I had the discrimination up to 35 (because of nails)and the transmit power at 20. About 20 minutes into the hunt there was a large good tone giving way to this huge decorative suspender clasp. Towards the end of the hunt, about 30 yards from the clasp, there was a sharp small good sound and after digging through some roots a coin was noted by my pin pointer. It was fat and I could not make out an indian head but could see one cent on the back, I was hopeful it would be my first Flying Eagle Cent. After a little peroxide the eagle and 1857 came clearly visible.
Thanks for looking, Mike

I have put my Nautilus 2ba in the non motion mode and I am not sure if it works right or not. You can hear just a slight sound when you go over and object but that is it. The autotune is turned off just like the manual says. What does it suppose to do?

A big thanks for the DMC 2b from jlfann here on the forum. The detector is an early classic 2b with the high, medium, low TX switch (considered by many to be the best of the Nautilus models produced). The transaction and considerations taken by jlfann made the experience easy. Also, thank you for the information on tips, tricks and experiences you shared with me. Unknown to me jlfann was a friend and fellow digger with Jerry Tyndall, thanks for sharing your experiences and stories; you have made some epic finds!
Your (new) friend and fellow digger, Mike

Talked to Wayne and My Nautilus IIBa is on its way home. He balanced the 10" coil and while it was there had Him do a Whites rod conversion as My old shoulder can't swing a S- rod anymore. Can't wait to get out with the 10" coil as it takes it from deep to a Beast!

4 pin 2B coil? (3 replies)

I bought a used 6" coil a few weeks ago which...I was told...fit the DMC 2B. I finally got to looking at the connector and find that the coil only has 4 pins as compared to my DMC 2b which has 8 pins. :surprised: I didn't know that they made such an animal...I was bumfuzzled ...and a bit disappointed that it wouldn't fit my 2B. Anybody got any news on a Nautilus DMC 2B coil with 4 pins? :help: Can anybody use one? I can let this one go at a reasonable price.

Thanks!

Charles
