Turn around time? (5 replies)

Nautilus DMC IIB coil adjustment limit (3 replies)
How to check that you coil isn't broken? If coil adjustment knobs are at zero start position are almost 9 o'clock that is not good? In this position I didn't get overload sound and can star tot calibrate it...

Just a little food for thought here. I took my trust DMC2B out for a little hunt yesterday. So I get there and go to set it up and bam, couldn't get the R and C to balance no matter what I did, tried 3 different coils, nothing worked. Couldn't even get a ground balance. Frustrated, I left and went home wondering what in the heck was wrong. Got home and put another set of batteries in it and still the same. Even after I tried my best to get the R and C set, it was beeping like crazy to the point that it was useless. Was thinking at that time that this old girl was finally dying on me. Then I remembered an old man telling me one time that his did this same thing and he said he was told that sometimes the components inside get dusty over time and all he had to do was remove the box cover and spray everything down with electrical circuit board cleaner and let it dry and put it back together. Well, I figured that I did not have anything to lose so I went to radio shack and bought a can of the circuit board cleaner and took it apart and probably went overboard, but sprayed everything inside including the pots for the R and C controllers, there are small holes that allow it to get in there so while I sprayed them I was turning them back and forth to make sure the contacts got good and cleaned. To make a long story short, after drying a couple of hours, I put it back together and went thru the setup process and it works like brand new. I am so thankful that I happened to take the time a few years ago to listen to what this old timer was telling me. Now I am going out again, this time she will not let me down. HH, Bill
By the way, it is running quieter than I have ever heard and I know she is working as I hit my test garden and it is still deeper than ever.

Drifted uncalibrated coil (no replies)
How to repair drifted, uncalibrated coil? This coil doesn't work wit IIBa. With IIB you can adjust it, but both R and C knobs are on 9 to 10 o'clock.

How to adjust coil by coin? (3 replies)
I was check my IIB coil and this coil is almost out of specification. R&C knobs starting point is not in 12 o'clock. I was switch this coil to IIBa... and this coil doesn't calibrate. Doesn't work with IIBa. If you push coil calibartion button, you will get only one low, grunt sound, not few like with healthy coil..
So, I was hear about coin trick, to attach coin to broken coil (center) and than calibrate. I was check this method... and coil pass calibration process... and coil works good enough.
Any other tips? What coin? Silver, copper or doesn't matter?

Nautilus DMC IIB destroyer of metal detecting world... (1 reply)
I was tested almost all machines on market... and after many years I was bought used Nautilus DMC IIB and IIBa... and my metal detecting world was fall down. I'm crushed, I'm destroyed.... and I don't know what think about it.
This old and ugly shoes box machine is outstanding, awesome... after few hours my brain was formated... for new discriminator. I'm part of machine... and this is weird. I'm using Spectra V3i in stereo mixed mode... but Nautilus is something more. Strange feeling.
Tribute for Tyndall Electronics and Jerry Tyndall. This guy was pure genius in metal detecting world. Why Garrett or Whites can't copy it... right?

Is Killer B out of business? (no replies)
My Killer B headphones died. I went to purchase a new pair and was informed they were out of business. Say it isn't so. Luckily I was able to rewire them bypassing the mono/stereo switch but I'm not sure how long they will last, they have seen a lot of hours on my good old Nautilus. Is there a source to purchase a new pair, maybe from an existing inventory?

Ground balancing and depth issue (no replies)
I was work with my IIB unit yesterday. And get weird situation with Ground Calibration at 70 unit see coin shalower than with 65... If I change to 70 I will lost coin signal and depth in my ground conditions. This is normal?

Nautilus with wireless headphones? (1 reply)
I was tested Garrett Z-Lynk... but this kit is mono ONLY!!! So I was order from Amazon Avantree Saturn Pro kit. This kit is stereo with low latency. Kit works ok, no latency indeed, but static channel sound is nulled and little distorted. I will try to test it outdoors soon.
